Packaging Problems That Lose You Business

Posted by

Little things matter and choosing the right type of packaging is no different

Packaging problems that lose you businessThe last thing any business wants is to lose sales and getting the right type of packaging is just as important as the product itself.

This is because the first thing your customer will encounter is the package where the product is.  If it doesn't fit correctly, the packing tape isn't bonded properly or the cardboard box is all crumbled up, you are only enabling yourself to lose business and give your company a bad reputation.

4 packaging problems that lose sales

  1. A box packing problem you do not want

  2. The last thing you want is for your customer to e waiting patiently for their much wanted product only for them to realize that the package is either way to big and it's wobbling around in the packaging box, or even worse, it's to small and in risk of being damaged while in transit.

Imagine the amount of complaints you would have to deal with along with an endless amount of refunds.

The best way to avoid this is to purchase the right sized boxes for your products and if it is too big you can also add void fill/loose fill to your boxes. This will fill any empty spaces you might have and avoid damaging any items.

  3. Good quality packing supplies over low quality

  4. We live in a consumer based society where products are being invented every second of the day. For this reason it is crucial that you have high quality packing supplies for all the products you sell.

There are so many packaging materials out there that is it sometimes to keep track of all of them, so don't just go and buy one size box if you have 100 products of different sizes. I mean an Xbox might need a cardboard box, whereas a diamond ring needs a jewellery box.

  5. You've killed it with the packing tape

  6. Right so you got the packing right and you have chosen the right materials for your products. Now everything is packed away and you've used void fill to secure the product safely.

Now there is only one problem! You're adhesive tape is the wrong size and you will have to seal the package so many times that it looks terrible. Not only does this look extremely unprofessional and untidy, you customer will have a hard time opening the box or probably even damage the product if it is fragile.

So long story short, be certain that 6 to do the job. There are so many out there that I am sure you will find what best suits your needs. however in my professional opinion I would advise you to either go for acrylic or vinyl tape.

  7. Make the right packing choices

  8. Let's imagine you have an have just received an order for 5 products. Would your best option be to put everything into one single box or put them all in separate packages?

I would without a doubt put them all separately as this looks a lot more professional. However, if you are on a budget and you only have 1 type of box, please make sure you add the heaviest items first. The last thing you want is for your customer to receive broken goods.
